As a Cable Dahmer dealership, our team at Cable Dahmer Chevrolet of Kansas City does much more than offer Kansas City residents access to the latest Chevy cars. We also believe in giving back to the community that we are a part of. Through the Cable-Dahmer High School Car Club, we are able to do this, helping students from the tech shops at Fort Osage and Olathe Advanced Technical Center get valuable, hands-on experience.
What Is the Cable-Dahmer Car Club?
The Cable Dahmer Car Club is designed to help area students get the hands-on experience they need to become successful technicians. It’s one thing to read a book or watch a video, but being able to physically work on an engine or suspension helps take things to the next level. Our service technicians are proud to share their knowledge and tools with younger generations. And that will help give them a head start should they decide to pursue a career in the automotive industry.
Helping High Schoolers Win a Car
Currently, members of the car club are working on fixing up a Chevy. In doing so, they are learning first-hand how a vehicle works and how to make repairs. Learning is not all they are doing, though. Once the vehicle is road-worthy, it will be taken back to the school to be raffled off. For $25, students can purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win. The drawing is expected to take place in early May, and while the focus is on the students, the raffle is open to the public.
You can learn more about the raffle in a story published on Great Day KC, a local program from FOX4 News.
Cable Dahmer Looks Forward to Building Lasting Relationships
Brian Franz, the Service Manager at Cable Dahmer Chevrolet of Kansas City, has been impressed with the success of the Cable-Dahmer Car Club. Brian already has plans to bring more cars for the club to work on, allowing for another raffle down the road.
The proceeds from this raffle will be given to the school’s automotive tech programs. That way, money can be used to purchase shop equipment and cover transportation needs to various school events.
Overall, the program has been a win-win for both Cable Dahmer and local students interested in the world of mechanics. And, we encourage you to reach out to our team to learn more about how we aim to support the local Kansas City community.
